Uppies and Downies is a Medieval Football game played in Workington in Cumbria, between two teams who are divided according to where they live (i.e. Up the Hill or Down the Hill).
The object of the game is to score a goal by placing it in a goal in the opponents side of the Hill, and kit can be transported any way, by kicking, running with it or carrying it. There are no real rules and a member of the other team can kick or punch to get the ball.
There is a large turnout in players and ubfortunately there is frequent injuries and sometimes death.
